JOB OPENING: Library Building & Systems Superintendent
(Full Time – Grade 13)
The Bedford Free Public Library in Bedford, Massachusetts (pop. 14,000), is seeking a responsible, experienced, and highly motivated individual to oversee the operation of the library mechanical and technical systems. This person will manage the building and supervise custodians under the general direction of the Library Director.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, seven to ten years of related experience with three years of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Skills and experience with computers and current technologies are necessary. A working knowledge of building maintenance techniques and custodial materials is needed.
The building and systems superintendent oversees all mechanical systems in the building including HVAC and computer systems. The superintendent resolves issues with computers, printers, and other technical hardware. He/she makes sure the environment in the building is at appropriate levels thorough maintenance of the HVAC system. He/she works with the Town Facilities Department to maintain library systems when appropriate. He/she maintains ordering and supply records for the department and tracks the annual budget. He/she maintains a schedule for the custodians to perform daily maintenance duties.
The ideal candidate must possess the ability to work with fellow staff, town employees and vendors. The ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks at the same time is highly desirable.

This position is 40 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend work when required. The salary range is $67,797 to $91,162, depending on experience, with a full town benefits package.
