JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled groundskeeper to join our team. In this position, the person will be responsible to assist us with the maintenance of the various outdoor spaces. The individual will need to complete a variety of tasks to ensure that the outdoor spaces we manage are well taken care of and project a positive image in the community. This is a part-time (19 hours), non-union position with no benefits.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Work under the direction of the Director of Facilities and/or his/her designee; will assist with a variety of maintenance duties in support of the Facilities Department.
Experience in maintaining all types of athletic fields.
Keep up-to-date with the latest best practices for athletic field maintenance.
Maintain all campus grounds and athletic fields, courtyards, etc. including mowing, weeding, pruning, raking, trimming, sweeping, watering, and trash removal.
Maintain athletic equipment i.e. goals, netting, field accessories, benches, etc.
Operate and maintain a variety of mowers, and equipment to maintain fields and lawns, including mowers, spreaders, gators, aerators, sweepers, trimmers, lining equipment, blowers, edgers, chain saws, weed whackers, etc.
Troubleshoot and repair equipment and keep equipment in operational order by performing preventative maintenance.
Perform snow removal duties, including by hand and with snow removal equipment.
Remove snow and ice from walkways during winter months.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities or his/her designee.

Required Skills/Abilities:
Good teamwork and communication skills to work effectively within a diverse team.
Ability to develop positive and respectful working relationships with students, staff and faculty throughout a diverse community.
Ability to demonstrate and model good safety practices.
Valid driver’s license required.
Basic computer skills and/or the willingness to attend training and adapt to using required technology (i.e. Checking work email, using work order software, etc.)

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods standing and walking.
Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
