KeymasterHVAC TECHNICIAN DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC BUILDINGS
The Department of Public Buildings is seeking qualified applicants for the position of HVAC Technician to provide professional and technical work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems and equipment in accordance with standards practice of the HVAC trade to the school and town’s public buildings. Performs other related work or other maintenance requirements as required.
This job requires initiative, organizational problem solving skills, and the ability to acquire knowledge of program operations, policies and procedures
<u>Knowledge, Ability and Skills:</u><u> </u>
Installs, alters, maintains, and repairs HVAC systems, components and equipment, such as pumps, motors, fan coils, pipping etc. to ensure a comfortable environment for teaching and learning.
Inspect HVAC systems, equipment, and components (e.g. heating and ventilation units) to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair to ensure compliance with codes.
Diagnose/Trouble-shoot malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
Maintains accurate inventory of all equipment and HVAC resources.
Expresses ideas on technical problems clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
Complies with laws and regulations regarding safety (OSHA) guidelines.
Performs emergency work; responds to emergencies.
Coordinates with department staff for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
Maintains current HVAC licenses or universal 608 card to meet governmental regulations.
Performs additional maintenance duties as assigned by the Director of Public Buildings.
<u>Qualifications:</u>
High school or vocational school diploma, advanced technical training preferred.
<u>Additional Requirements:</u> Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License
EPA Universal 608 Certification
Basic Computer skills (Microsoft office, Email, Google Suite)
SALARY RANGE UP TO: $75,794.00 SEIU 888 union position with an excellent benefit package!
