    <b>Departmental Job Description</b>

     

    <b>Job Title:</b> <span style=”font-weight: 400;”>MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I</span>

     

    <b>Maintenance Technician I Definition:</b>

     

    <span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Under general supervision performs a variety of maintenance and grounds duties in support of classroom and administrative operations. Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, tasks required to maintain the proper operation of building systems and equipment, grounds and athletic fields, snow removal operations, and work order response to customer requests within the school. Incumbents must be capable of working reliably and independently to carry out assigned tasks and work schedules.</span>

     

    <b>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</b>

     

      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Building mechanical, electrical and plumbing system maintenance </span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Preventative maintenance program operations</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Maintains swimming pool operation and chemical balance</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Building maintenance: painting, light carpentry and masonry, glass repair, door hardware and key system, </span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Grounds maintenance: turf maintenance, cutting, weeding, fertilizing, athletic field layout, set-up and ongoing maintenance</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Rearranging and moving furnishings and equipment in support of school operations</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Snow removal: plow vehicle operation, snow thrower operation, hand shoveling, distributing ice melt and sand, maintaining snow removal equipment</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Function support and moving service: set-up and breakdown table/chairs/furniture for scheduled events</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Facilities department vehicle and equipment maintenance operations</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Other related Maintenance duties as assigned</span>

     

    <b>Qualifications Guide:</b>

     

    <span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Knowledge of:</span>

      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Methods, materials, and equipment related to the maintenance of school facility</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Power and hand tools, grounds maintenance equipment, and basic vehicle maintenance</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Safe working practices: ladder safety, tool safety, vehicle safety, hazardous materials, control of hazardous energy, </span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Cleaning, sanitation, and health standards</span>

     

    <span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Ability to:</span>

      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Understand and carry out both written and oral instructions</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Perform heavy physical labor, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Maintain work schedules, set task priorities and work without constant direct supervision in the performance of assigned tasks</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Read, recognize, and understand: hazardous materials labels, manufacturers written instructions, equipment operating instructions, and building plans.</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Properly track and document work order specific information</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Adhere to safety standards and safe practices that apply to maintenance operations</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Maintain cooperative working relationships and harmony within the workplace</span>

     

    <span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Training and Experience:</span>

      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Two years general maintenance experience and the ability to demonstrate knowledge of MEP operations and maintenance procedures, vehicle and equipment operations, grounds/field maintenance, and power/hand tool operation of general building and grounds maintenance and the ability to demonstrate knowledge of maintenance procedures, equipment operation and power/hand tool operation</span>

      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Regularly lift and/or move 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds</span>
      <li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Requires work near moving mechanical parts, in outside weather conditions and occasionally exposed to harsh or caustic chemicals</span>
