JOB DESCRIPTION
MAINTENANCE
POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Technician II
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor
SUMMARY: Performs technical maintenance and repair services inside and outside the physical plant
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:
- Perform various technical facilities maintenance tasks such as HVAC service and installation, building automation system diagnostics and repair, electrical, carpentry, flooring, roofing, plumbing, door, lock, mechanical, and other miscellaneous related repairs and improvement projects.
- Performs general labor inside and outside of the physical plant, including, but not limited to, district wide grounds keeping, handling of materials and supplies, moving equipment, and operating power-driven maintenance equipment and machinery. Additionally, perform snow removal and any other District driven facility maintenance needs.
- Maintains all safety and code requirements of the Federal, State, Local and School Committee guidelines.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Technical School training or equivalent field experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Other requirements are the ability to write routine reports and correspondence, ability to communicate effectively with supervisor, temporary help, other staff, and administration.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and measurements as applied to carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other trades used in the day to day performance of the job.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid driver’s license with good driving record, current hoisting license HEML, or 1C, 2A, 2D, 4G, current EPA refrigerant certification, current Commonwealth of MA refrigeration license. If the MA hoisting license is not currently held, the employee must obtain it within 180 days from the beginning date of employment
