    <u>Job Summary: </u>Under general direction, the Licensed Electrician is responsible for performing skilled work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, motors, and related equipment in City-owned buildings.

    Duties & Responsibilities: Installs, maintains, alters, and repairs electrical fixtures and equipment such as lighting control systems, wiring, lighting power appliances, machinery, overhead circuits, underground conduits, and pole lines.  Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical motors and generators used in various operations as well as maintains emergency lighting systems.  Knowledge of HVAC equipment such as roof tops, unit ventilators, fan coil units, chillers, pumps, and drives, and ability to diagnose and repair.   Performs visual inspections and preventative maintenance on building equipment.  Repairs and maintains motors, and similar appliances in municipal buildings.   Performs re-lamping of School and City facilities, recreational areas, parking lots, decorative streetlights, and playgrounds.  Installs electrical outlets, fuse boxes, circuit breakers, electrical panels, computer plugs, lighting systems, and other electrical components and equipment.   Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required by the Department Head.  Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Essential Skills: Graduation from high school or a General Education Development (GED) Certificate.  A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a licensed electrician in a commercial facility performing both electrical and fire alarm work.  Must have and maintain a Journeyman’s Massachusetts Electrical License.  A Massachusetts Masters Electrical License preferred.  Candidate must also have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
