    Join our building maintenance team! The Town of Brookline is seeking a full-time Senior EMS/HVAC
    Technician to perform licensed HVAC maintenance and repairs on equipment and providing support
    for the Energy Management Systems; and other related work, as required.
    Starting salary $37.08 per hour with potential up to $42.55, plus generous leave time, health and dental
    insurance benefits, 12 paid holidays, 2 weeks’ vacation to start, up to 7 personal days, 15 paid sick
    days, pension system and excellent working conditions. Includes town vehicle with tools, uniform and

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    GENERAL MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES
    Based on skills and training, and the needs of the department for specific trade specialties, a Senior
    EMS/HVAC Technician performs a range of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair and building
    construction related activities which may include other technical skills. Each Senior EMS/HVAC
    Technician performs a range of maintenance activities.

    EMS/HVAC RELATED ACTIVITIES
    Perform HVAC work in town buildings; maintain service and install HVAC equipment along with
    associated automatic temperature controllers devices, management systems and components. Includes
    trouble shooting HVAC equipment and controls using EMS software and laptops or related computer
    equipment.
    Perform HVAC preventive maintenance on all equipment such as air handling units, fan coil units,
    exhaust fans, condensing units, circulator pumps, air compressors, variable frequency drives, heating
    and chilled water systems etc. Maintenance shall include thorough inspections of all equipment,
    replacement and alignment of belts, shafts and pulleys, Lubrication or replacement of bearings, motors,
    pumps and seals. Replacement of air filters, cleaning of evaporator coils, condenser coils and
    evaporator drain pans and water treatment. Maintain records on work order software application of all
    above equipment such as equipment location, size, model, replacement parts, scheduled maintenance
    dates, recommended repairs etc.

    RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    High school diploma; additional technical training in HVAC plumbing or electrical work; five to seven
    years of experience performing a range of HVAC work; or an equivalent combination of education and
    experience.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Valid Driver’s License, Class D
    • Massachusetts Journeyman or Master Refrigeration/HVAC License
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY
    • Knowledge of the principles of HVAC codes, tools, techniques, equipment, and procedures,
    including all safety procedures used to maintain heating systems and pipefitting.
    • Basic knowledge of various types of energy management systems – Johnson Controls/Metasys.
    • Knowledge of the Massachusetts HVAC Code, the principles and practices of electrical wiring
    and requirements for electrical service, energy management, and HVAC controls.
    • Ability to read plans and specifications, make repairs and address unique situations, lift heavy
    objects, and perform strenuous labor, use power and hand tools and respond to emergencies to
    prevent damage.
    • Skill in using hand and power tools; troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
